Upper Dir Kohistan is a beautiful valley with many attractions including Kumrat valley, Jahaz Banda Meadows, Katora lake, Badgoi pass, Shindur lake etc.

Kumrat valley is a valley in the Upper Dir District, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. Kumrat is covered with green pastures, snow clad mountains, the river Panjkora, foggy mounds and forests are attractions of the region, which serve as habitats for variety of flora and fauna.

Jahaz Banda is a lush green and idyllic hill station in Upper Dir Kohistan region, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa at an altitude of 3,100 m above sea level. The region is surrounded by snow-clad mountains, towering trees, and covered by green pastures.

Katora Lake which mean in Pashto bowl like in shape and is being named due to its appearance. It is an alpine glacial lake located in the upper reaches of Jahaz banda.

Itinerary:

Day 01 – Leave Islamabad for Upper Dir at 1am in midnight after picking members from Islamabad (Faizabad Interchange). Breakfast and lunch on the way. Dinner and night in camps/rooms at Jandrai/Thal.

Day 02 – Breakfast at Jandrai/Thal, Hike to Jahaz banda meadows (4-5 hours of moderate trek through beautiful pine forest). No lunch will be served today instead daypacks will be given before startking hike. Reach Jahaz Banda Meadows. After a short break hike down to Jahaz banda waterfall (hardly 20 minutes) and then hike back to the camping site. Dinner and Night stay in camps/rooms at Jahaz Banda Meadows.

Day 03 – Breakfast at Jahaz Banda Meadows, depart for Katora lake, 3-3.5 hours of moderate trek. Lunch will not be served this day instead daypacks will be given. Spend 2 hours at lake and then back to Jahaz Banda Meadows. Dinner and night stay in camps/rooms at Jahaz Banda Meadows.

Day 04 – Breakfast at Jahaz Banda Meadows. Trek down to Jandrai. Lunch at Jandrai. Depart for Kumrat valley. Sight seeing around the camping area. Dinner and Night stay in camps/huts at Kumrat valley.

Day 05 – Breakfast at Kumrat valley. Explore a waterfall in kumrat valley. Departure for Kala Chashma. Back to Thal for lunch. Departure for Islamabad at 4pm in the evening. Dinner on the way.

Day 06 – Continue overnight return journey towards Islamabad. Reach Islamabad around 4-5am.

End of services.
